NEP Student FNCE Scholarship
Support Dietetics Students through the FNCE 2009 Student Stipend Program
By awarding $100 stipends to students attending the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo, the Student Stipend Program provides a successful way to get dietetics students engaged in the dietetics profession through networking and learning opportunities.
Based on the funds collected, the Student Stipend Challenge awards dietetics students, who are ADA members and registered for FNCE a $100 stipend towards their FNCE expenses.
Donors who make a minimum $100 contribution will be matched with a specific student which will provide an opportunity to introduce your DPG, Affiliate, or organization to future food and nutrition professionals.
Donations of $100 or more made by August 1st will be acknowledged in the FNCE Program Book.
Donations of any amount are welcomed and encouraged.

NEP Student Scholarship
Nutrition Education for the Public: American Dietetic Association Dietetic Practice Group
Policy:
The NEP Student Scholarship is designed to enable an undergraduate or graduate student in the field of dietetics/nutrition or a dietetic intern/AP4 student to attend The American Dietetic Association Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE). The goal of the scholarship is to foster mentoring of the future nutrition education leaders by existing practitioners. NEP will fund three $250.00 student scholarships each calendar year.
Procedure:
Student must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the scholarship:
·A “student” member of the ADA.
·The student is to be a member of the NEP DPG
·Currently enrolled in one of the following and must be pursuing a route of entry into the profession of dietetics, which enables them to become credentialed as a registered dietitian:
- A student enrolled in a CADE accredited/approved dietetics program or supervised practice program.
·Not yet credentialed as a registered dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, at the time of application.
The scholarship recipient will receive a $250 scholarship to be used toward the registration fee at FNCE. The monies will be disbursed to the recipients after FNCE, when documentation of attendance and the written summary has been received by the NEP Chair.
Student applicants may nominate themselves, and must have a support letter/recommendation from a faculty member of their program and/or a current NEP member who is familiar with the student’s activities.
Application/Selection process:
·The NEP student member must complete the application form available through the NEP Web site or from the NEP Chair.
·The student will submit a one page, double-spaced letter describing the following: his/her career goals and how the attendance at FNCE will assist in furthering these goals; and explain his/her interest in the field of nutrition education.
·The student’s letter, the application form and the letter of recommendation must be fully completed and received prior to the application deadline date. The applicant’s documents may be submitted to the NEP Chair electronically.
·The scholarship recipient will be notified within 20 days following the deadline.
·Scoring of the applications will be completed by a committee of three: DPG Chair, DPG Membership Chair, and one additional member appointed by NEP DPG Chair.
After the award recipient attends the conference:
·Within 30 days of attendance of the FNCE, the student will submit the following to the NEP Chair:
- Verification of attendance at FNCE (registration fee receipt and a certificate of attendance from the meeting)
