Vermont Dietetic Association Affiliate Goals for FY 2008-2009
(as submitted to ADA)
- Establish membership chair and committee, charged with new member and returned member recruitment
- Establish fundraising chair (or two co-chairs) and committee
- Host a fundraiser- generate money and promote the profession
- Establish more regular communication with lobbyist and to best utilize the financial investment in this resource
- Focus on who and what Vermont RDs are doing –promoting the good work of the professionals in Vermont
- Continue Annual Meeting and Conference and explore use of updated website as a tool for continuing education for members
- Revision of VDA Policies and Procedures and Bylaws

Ensure vibrant organization through efforts to support: membership, volunteerism, financial stability
Affiliate Goals for 08-09 to meet strategic Plan’s goals:
1. Establish membership chair and committee, charged with new member and returned member survey & recruitment
2. Establish fundraising chair (or two co-chairs) and committee
3. Host a fundraiser- generate money and promote the profession
4. Revision of VDA Policies and Procedures and Bylaws

Empower members through education in emerging areas:Mentoring, Professional development
Affiliate Goals for 08-09 to meet strategic Plan’s goals:
1.Continue VDA Annual Meeting and Conference
2.Explore use of updated VDA website as a means for continuing education for VDA members

Goal # 3
Influence nutrition policy as it affects:
The profession and the ability of professionals to serve the community,
The nutritional well-being of the community
Affiliate Goals for 08-09 to meet strategic Plan’s goals:
1. Establish more regular communication with lobbyist in order to keep current with pending VT legislation that affects the profession and to best utilize VDA’s financial investment
2. Promote the role of the registered dietitian (RD) and diet technician (DTR) to the public by highlighting the positive impact of the work they are doing in Vermont.

Goal # 4
Promote the profession of dietetics as the nutrition expert:
Focus on who and what VT RDs are doing –promoting the good work of the professionals
Access and disseminate materials developed through ADA
Affiliate Goals for 08-09 to meet strategic Plan’s goals:
1.Promote the role of RDs ’s and DTR’s in VT by focusing on what we are doing (both internally for VDA members via Member Updates and externally through the media/ VDA Day at Legislature)
2.Continue to improve the VDA Website as a tool for VDA members and the general public
